Live music venues in Manchester cover arena shows down to small clubs. Choice depends on the band, your tolerance for crowds, and ticket prices.

01 Arenas

Arenas

Manchester Arena and Co-op Live are for big shows. Tens of thousands. Big screens. Expensive tickets. Good for major acts. Impersonal but massive.

02 Theatres

Theatres

Opera House, Palace Theatre, Apollo Theatre do mid-size shows. Good acoustics, seated or standing. 3000-4000 capacity. Tickets are expensive but experience is better than arenas. Artists value these rooms.

03 Clubs

Clubs and Smaller Venues

Academy, Night and Day, Gorilla, Ruby Lounge do smaller shows. 500-1000 capacity. Better atmosphere than big venues. You can actually hear and see. Tickets are cheaper. Quality is higher for smaller shows.

04 Live

Live Music Bars

Various bars have live music nights: jazz, acoustic, local bands. Quality varies. Entry is free or very cheap. Drink prices are normal bar prices. Good for discovering local acts.

05 Ticket

Ticket Strategy

Check band website for venue info. Small clubs are better for atmosphere and value. Theatres are middle ground. Arenas are for the experience of crowds and big productions. Local bars are for discovering new music.
