Withington is what Fallowfield graduates move to after uni. It's leafier, quieter, and has kept a proper village high street along Wilmslow Road and Burton Road. The Red Lion is a huge Victorian pub with a garden that fills up on summer Sundays. The Victoria sits opposite doing real ale and pies. The Fuel Cafe Bar is a long-running vegetarian favourite with gig nights upstairs. Solomon Grundy on Wilmslow Road does a proper all-day menu. Withington Baths, a community-run Edwardian pool saved from closure in 2015, is one of the best heritage buildings south of town. Fog Lane Park and the western edge of the Mersey Valley give you proper walking country. The 42 bus from Piccadilly runs every few minutes and trams are a short walk away at Burton Road.
