Bowling alleys in Manchester are limited but the ones that exist are decent. It’s a good activity if you want to do something that isn’t just eating or drinking.
All Star Lanes
All Star Lanes in the Printworks has proper bowling lanes alongside arcade games and a bar. You book lanes by the hour (around £25-35 depending on time). Food is pub quality. It’s busy on weekends so book ahead. Good for groups and dates.
Bowling World
Bowling World in Moss Side has more lanes and cheaper rates (around £20-25 per hour). Less fancy than All Star Lanes but the bowling is serious. There’s a bar and snack counter. Parking is easy. Family-friendly during the day, busier with groups in the evening.
Strike Ten Pin
Strike Ten Pin is smaller and less well-known but has lanes available more easily. It’s on the edge of the city centre. Less atmosphere than All Star Lanes but easier to get a lane. Rates around £20-30.
Strategy for Bowling
Book ahead if you’re going Friday-Sunday evening. Midweek is quieter. Shoe sizes go bigger than you’d expect – size up. Bring cash if possible because some places charge extra for card payments. Bring a group because bowling for two feels weird. Go late if you want younger crowds and drinks; go early if you want families.
