Lifeshare has been working with homeless and vulnerable people in Manchester since 1984. They provide direct, frontline support — going out to where people are sleeping rough, running drop-in services, and offering practical help to people in crisis.
Their street outreach team works evenings and nights across the city centre, making contact with people sleeping rough, providing food, warm clothing, sleeping bags, and first aid, and connecting people with services that can help them find a way off the streets. The drop-in centre offers a safe indoor space with hot food, showers, laundry facilities, and access to advice on housing, benefits, and health services.
Lifeshare also runs supported accommodation and works with young people at risk of homelessness, trying to intervene before they end up on the streets. Their approach is non-judgmental — they work with people wherever they are, not where services think they should be.
They’re based at 7 Ducie Street in the city centre, M1 2JB. Lifeshare runs on a mix of council funding and donations, and they always need volunteers for outreach shifts, the drop-in, and fundraising.
