Platt Fields parkrun: Course Guide
Flat, fast and central. A multi-lap 5k in Fallowfield's Platt Fields Park, popular with students and PB-hunters from across south Manchester.

Platt Fields parkrun is the south Manchester student-belt favourite, held every Saturday at 9am in the well-loved Fallowfield park beside the boating lake. The course is flat and run over multiple laps on hard paths, which makes it one of the better PB tracks in the city – no big hills to break your rhythm, just steady, repeatable loops. Its location in the heart of the university corridor means it draws a big, young, friendly crowd, and the multi-lap format means there is always someone around you to pace off.
Transport could hardly be easier: Platt Fields is a short distance down the Oxford Road / Wilmslow Road corridor, served by one of the busiest bus routes in Europe, and walkable or a quick cycle from Fallowfield, Rusholme, Withington and the universities. Parking nearby is limited, so public transport or active travel is the sensible option. There is a cafe at the park for afterwards, and the surrounding Curry Mile and Fallowfield spots are close for a bigger post-run breakfast. Free, weekly, all abilities – register online, bring your barcode, turn up.
