A historic market town with vintage shops, heritage venues, independent ale and the Robinsons brewery at its centre.
Stockport is a proper market town that predates Manchester's dominance. It sits south of the city on the Mersey, with a market hall that still functions, vintage shops clustered on Underbanks, and enough heritage pubs to spend a week visiting. The Robinsons brewery has been making ale there since 1838, visible from the town centre.
It has a different energy than Manchester proper - slower, older, more rooted.
