Marple parkrun: Course Guide
On the edge of the Peak District, Marple parkrun is one of the most scenic in the region - worth the train ride out from Piccadilly.

Marple parkrun is held at Marple Recreation Ground, on the southeastern edge of Stockport borough where Greater Manchester meets the hills. The course mixes grass paths with trail-edged sections through the surrounding green space, and the backdrop – rolling countryside pushing up toward the Dark Peak – makes this feel like a proper weekend outing rather than a routine Saturday morning run. There are some gentle climbs and the ground can get soft in wet weather, so trail shoes or grippy road shoes are worth considering.
Getting here by public transport is genuinely viable. Marple station sits on the Buxton and Hope Valley lines out of Manchester Piccadilly – the journey takes around 25 minutes and trains run regularly on Saturday mornings. The station is a short walk from the Recreation Ground. If you are driving, parking is available near the venue. It is one of those parkruns that attracts runners from across Greater Manchester specifically for the change of scenery, and the friendly volunteer team and post-run cafe make the trip worthwhile.
