Late-night cocktails in Manchester happen in two windows: the proper night (8pm-midnight) and the actual late night (12am-3am). The second group requires knowing where they are.
Schofield’s
Schofield’s on Bridge Street is open late. Cocktails are expensive – £10-14 each – but they’re properly made. The bar staff know what they’re doing. Service is professional even at 2am. It’s a cocktail bar, not a club. Quiet enough to drink and talk. Open until 3am on weekends.
Northern Monk
Northern Monk brewery has a bar that’s open late on weekends. It’s beer-focused but they do cocktails. More casual than Schofield’s. The crowd is younger, louder. Good if you want energy at 2am.
Gorilla Bar and Nightclub
Gorilla on Whitworth Street is both a bar and club. The bar side stays open late. Cocktails here are cheaper than Schofield’s – £8-12 – and less precise, but the vibe is fun. It’s where people are before dancing or after. Late night crowd is younger, more drunk, louder.
Nightclub Cocktail Bars
Some of the proper late-night clubs have cocktail bars inside. Academy, Box, others. The cocktails aren’t the main point – the dancing is. But if you want drinks while dancing, they exist. Prices are inflated – £12-15 per drink.
Late Night Reality
Manchester’s late-night drinking scene is real but concentrated. Most places close by 1am. The places open after that are clubs or cocktail bars designed for late drinking. If you’re specifically looking for late-night cocktails, book Schofield’s or go to a club that has a bar. Don’t expect to find it on the walk.
