Chorlton-cum-Hardy is where Manchester's creative-class crowd ended up when the Northern Quarter got too expensive. Beech Road is the main event: The Beagle for pizza and beer, The Creameries for seasonal produce and a Michelin Bib, Electrik for long brunches. Unicorn Grocery is Manchester's best independent wholefood co-op, worker-owned since 1996. The vegan scene is deep: V-Rev, Seitan's Helper, and the legendary Drop Inn cafe. Chorlton Water Park and Chorlton Meadows give you proper countryside walks twenty minutes from St Peter's Square. There's a farmers' market on the third Saturday of every month outside St Clement's.
