Zouk has been quietly doing some of the best Pakistani and Indian food in Manchester for years. Sitting just off Oxford Road in the Quadrangle, it doesn’t get the attention that flashier places do, which suits the regulars just fine. The ground floor restaurant is spacious and modern, built around a charcoal grill that produces some of the best kebabs in the city. The seekh kebabs are smoky and properly spiced. The lamb chops are fat, charred, and exactly what you want.
The menu is extensive — curries, biryanis, grilled meats, tandoori dishes — and the kitchen handles all of it with consistency. The karahi dishes are made in those heavy iron pots and arrive bubbling. The biryani is fragrant with whole spices and cooked in the proper layered style. Portions are generous and the naan bread is soft, fresh, and big enough to share.
The Tea Room
Upstairs there’s a chai lounge that most people don’t know about. Proper desi chai, sweet treats, and a more relaxed vibe for afternoon meetups or a post-meal wind-down. It’s a nice touch that sets Zouk apart. Main courses run from twelve to twenty quid. It’s not the cheapest but for the quality of the grill work and the size of the portions, it represents solid value. A real local favourite.
