Stockport Produce Hall

About Stockport Produce Hall

Stockport Produce Hall is part of the reason people have stopped apologising for being from Stockport. It’s a covered market food hall in the Underbanks — the old part of town that’s been getting a proper revival.

Multiple independent vendors operate under one roof. The lineup rotates but expect wood-fired pizza, proper sandwiches, Asian street food, cheese, charcuterie, baked goods, and a decent coffee stand. Quality is high across the board because the curation is careful. This isn’t a random collection of whoever could afford the rent.

The building itself is a restored market hall — think exposed brick, high ceilings, communal tables. It’s busy at weekends, properly busy. Lunchtime on a Saturday you might struggle for a seat. Go mid-week or early if you want to actually sit down and eat in peace.

There’s a good craft beer selection from local breweries. The bar does cocktails too. It works as a food stop or as a place to spend an afternoon grazing and drinking.

Stockport is fifteen minutes from Manchester Piccadilly by train. The Produce Hall is a five-minute walk from the station, downhill through the old market area. The whole Underbanks district is worth a wander — independent shops, the hat museum, proper old Stockport.

Don’t be snobby about going to Stockport. This place is better than half the food halls in Manchester city centre.
