Jane Eyre on Blossom Street is the kind of wine bar where you come in for one glass and leave three hours later having worked through half the menu and discovered four wines you didn’t know existed. The natural wine list is one of the best in Manchester — deep, interesting, and by people who clearly love what they’re pouring. Staff are knowledgeable without being preachy about it. Tell them what you like and they’ll find you something brilliant.
The food is small plates designed for sharing and pairing with wine. Expect seasonal, ingredient-led dishes — cured meats, good cheese boards, grilled vegetables with interesting dressings, and the occasional standout like lamb shoulder or baked cod that punches above what you’d expect from a wine bar kitchen. The menu changes frequently and everything feels considered rather than churned out. Portions are small-plate sized, so order three or four between two and keep adding as you go.
The Room
It’s compact, warm, and has that slightly bohemian Ancoats energy. Candles on the tables, good music at a volume that lets you actually talk, and a bar you can sit at if you’re solo. Expect to spend around thirty to forty quid per person with wine and food. Book for Friday and Saturday — it fills up quickly.
