Dusk Til Pawn sits on Stevenson Square behind what looks like a vintage pawn shop. The window display has old typewriters, cameras, and curiosities. Walk through the shop and the bar opens up behind it. It’s a speakeasy concept that actually commits to the bit.
The cocktail menu is creative and well-executed. House specials change regularly and lean into unusual flavour combinations — expect things like smoked ingredients, unusual bitters, and seasonal fruits. Classic cocktails are made properly. The bartenders are skilled and happy to go off-menu if you tell them what you like.
The space is cosy. Brick walls, dim lighting, vintage decor that matches the pawn shop theme without overdoing it. There’s seating for maybe forty, spread across a few different areas. The back section is slightly quieter. Music is low enough to have a conversation, which is all you want from a cocktail bar.
Stevenson Square is one of the main NQ squares — surrounded by bars, restaurants, and street art. The location means you’re in the thick of things but the bar itself feels removed from the noise outside.
Drinks are ten to thirteen quid. Reasonable for cocktails of this quality. They don’t serve food but there are a dozen options within a minute’s walk.
Book on weekends or go early. One of the best cocktail bars in the NQ, no question.
