UoM vs MMU
A general comparison of the two Manchester universities from a student life perspective.
The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University sit almost on top of each other along Oxford Road, so most of what people ask about isn't really "which campus is nicer" so much as "which one fits how I want to study." UoM leans into big lecture theatres and a research-heavy reputation, MMU tends to run smaller and more practical, especially on the creative and design courses based around All Saints.
Day to day the difference shows up more in course structure than in the city around you. Both sets of students end up in the same Wilmslow Road cafes, the same Curry Mile takeaways, the same Fallowfield house shares. Nobody's social life is limited by which students' union card is in their wallet.
If in doubt, go and look at the actual course content rather than the university's name. A good MMU course beats a mediocre UoM one, and the other way round too.
