The University of Salford campus is based on the Salford waterfront, a self-contained campus environment rather than buildings spread across a city. This means you have most facilities in one place - library, lecture theatres, student spaces, accommodation. The campus design is modern and purpose-built around student needs, with newer buildings and facilities compared to universities built into existing cities. The trade-off is that you're more enclosed within the campus and less integrated into the city.
The library and study facilities are centrally located and well-resourced. The students' union is at the heart of the campus and is the social hub. Because the campus is self-contained, most facilities and services are on-site, which means less time travelling between different parts of the university. First-year halls are integrated into the campus or within walking distance.
The proximity to MediaCityUK adds to the experience if you're studying media or broadcast-related subjects. Transport into Manchester proper is convenient but requires a deliberate journey rather than walking distance. Many Salford University students spend most of their time on campus and plan trips into Manchester rather than using the city as an everyday extension of their campus life.
