Gay Village

Canal Street and beyond - Manchester's LGBTQ+ heartbeat since the 1980s.

Gay Village

The Gay Village is centred on Canal Street, with bars, clubs and terraces running along the Rochdale Canal. Its identity is tied to Manchester's LGBTQ+ history, campaign work and annual Pride celebrations.

It is compact enough to move between venues on foot, with quieter daytime visits around Sackville Gardens and louder nights along the canal. Community, nightlife and memory all sit close together here.
