Manchester's
Community Sport
Local clubs, Sunday leagues, grassroots fixtures and participation pathways across Greater Manchester — all in one place.
Manchester is one of England's great sporting cities — not just for the Premier League giants, but for the thousands of people who play, coach, volunteer and spectate at grassroots and community level every single week.
From Sunday league football on Heaton Park's pitches to BBL basketball at the National Cycling Centre, from ice hockey at Altrincham Ice Dome to recreational cricket across dozens of clubs in every corner of Greater Manchester — this is the real sporting fabric of the city. Whether you're looking for a team to join, a fixture to watch, a league to enter or a place to play, MCR City's Community Sport hub is your starting point. We list local clubs across eight sports, cover weekend fixtures for semi-professional and community teams, and connect you to the leagues and participation pathways that keep hundreds of thousands of Mancunians active every year.

FC United of Manchester
Formed in 2005 by supporters who felt Manchester United had lost touch with its roots, FC United of Manchester is the most democratic football club in England. Members vote on every major decision. In 2015 they opened Broadhurst Park — a stadium they funded, built and own collectively. Today FC United play in the Northern Premier League and continue to grow as a beacon of fan-ownership in English football.
