Choose an event-submission channel by the job you need it to do: taking bookings, confirming a venue programme or helping people discover a local event. You may need more than one, but each page should lead to the same accurate booking information.
Start with the actual Manchester event
Manchester is the location, but the neighbourhood often makes the event useful to someone planning an evening. Give a Northern Quarter venue its actual address rather than assuming every reader knows the name. If your event is in Fallowfield, keep that distinction visible instead of presenting it as a city-centre booking. Your title should explain what happens; the area belongs in the location details and, where useful, the opening sentence.
For an independent organiser, choose a booking page first and keep its date, price and venue consistent everywhere else. MCR can be a separate local discovery page pointing to that booking destination. A listing does not replace ticketing, and neither a city listing nor a social post is evidence that a place has sold. Count completed bookings separately from people opening the page.
Compare channels by what they provide
| Channel | Useful for | Check before using it |
|---|---|---|
| Your own or a ticketing provider’s booking page | Reservations, ticket conditions and booking management | Correct session, final price and contact route |
| The host venue’s calendar | Showing the event within the venue’s programme | Permission, current calendar and who updates changes |
| A local city listing | An explanation of the event with a route to booking | Listing fee, review requirements and current availability |
| Relevant community or social channels | Sharing an invitation with a suitable audience | Posting rules, permission and a clear booking link |
A provider name alone does not establish value. Compare the actual cost, the work you must do and the audience the channel serves. Do not treat follower totals, search visibility or a claim of exposure as evidence of ticket sales.
What the city listing costs
The published Direct listing price is £10 for the organiser. The optional Featured listing is £39. This is separate from what a guest pays to attend: a free-entry event still has an organiser listing fee. Featured placement is not a promise of views, bookings or a Google position.
Payment and editorial approval are separate. Keep your receipt and use the correction or review process shown in the submission journey. Do not assume an event is public merely because a form was filled in.
Before you submit
Prepare the event name, date, start time, venue and postcode; explain what happens and who it suits; give the correct booking URL; confirm age and access details with the host. Use artwork you have permission to publish. Recheck the booking link from a phone before sharing it.
Current availability: MCR has an existing paid event-submission route. Check the current offer and availability on the submission page before paying.
