Guide

Stockport Rugby Union Football Club were formed in 1869, a time when the game itself was still in its early decades. Playing from Peel Moat Road in Heaton Moor, they are a fixture in the Stockport sporting landscape across an area that has changed considerably over the 150-plus years since the club was formed. Heaton Moor is one of Stockport’s most settled residential areas, and the ground at Peel Moat Road sits within that community. North Premier League rugby is genuinely competitive, a division that requires training commitment and a reasonable standard of play to compete at effectively.

The club runs multiple senior XVs, which means a clear pathway from the top team down to a more social level of club rugby – a practical arrangement that allows the club to field players across a wide range of abilities and commitment. The junior section is active and runs through the season from under-7s upward. For adults, contact the club before pre-season in August if you are looking to get involved. Heaton Moor is accessible from Stockport town centre and has good bus links from the surrounding areas. The club also runs a strong social side and is embedded in the Heaton Moor community in the way long-standing local sports clubs tend to be.
