Sale Sharks Women compete in Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR), the top division of the women’s game in England, playing out of the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford alongside the men’s Sharks and Salford Red Devils. The women’s programme is a more recent addition to the club, riding the rapid professionalisation of women’s rugby that followed the success of the England Red Roses and the growth of the World Cup.
The standard is genuinely high and rising. PWR clubs now carry England internationals and full-time professionals, and the gap between the women’s and men’s spectacle continues to narrow. For families and neutrals, women’s rugby offers accessible pricing, an excellent atmosphere and the chance to watch a sport visibly growing in real time.
The AJ Bell Stadium is in Eccles, on the Metrolink Eccles line. Sharing a ground with two other professional clubs makes it one of the busiest sporting venues in Greater Manchester – check the fixture list and you can often pair codes across a weekend.
