Guide

Manchester Frontrunners are part of an international network of LGBTQ+ running clubs that stretches across dozens of cities worldwide. The Manchester chapter runs weekly group runs from central Manchester, organised across pace groups so that newer and slower runners are as welcome as experienced race-goers. The club is open to all LGBTQ+ people and their allies, and the emphasis is on community and inclusion alongside the running itself. Manchester’s LGBTQ+ community is large and active, centred on the Village around Canal Street, and Frontrunners are one of the sports clubs embedded in that community.

The club is particularly visible at Manchester Pride events, where running together is one of the ways the city’s LGBTQ+ sporting community makes itself known. Weekly runs depart from central Manchester, typically in the early evening on a weekday, and finish somewhere that the social side of the club can continue. All paces are genuinely accommodated – no one is left at the back wondering if they should have stayed home. Find current run details and meeting points through the club’s social media channels, which are the most reliable source of the current schedule. Joining a Frontrunners group run is one of the easier ways to meet people in a new city if running is something you already do.
