Guide

Droylsden FC were formed in 1892, making them one of the older clubs in the Greater Manchester non-league landscape. The Butchers Arms Ground takes its name directly from the pub that sits next to it – an arrangement that tells you everything you need to know about the scale and character of the club. Droylsden is a small town between Manchester and Ashton-under-Lyne, and the football club has been part of its fabric through most of the last 130 years. The nickname “The Bloods” comes from the red strip, and the local rivalry with nearby Tameside clubs gives the fixture list real edge.

The club has navigated difficult financial periods in recent years, a common story at non-league level where gate receipts are the primary income and a poor season can create serious pressure. But Droylsden FC has survived longer than most, and there remains a core of supporters and volunteers who keep it going. The Northern Premier League structure means there is a pyramid to climb and a direction of travel to aspire to. The ground is accessible by Metrolink to Droylsden station, and admission prices are the kind that remind you football was once something people could go to every week without planning their finances around it.
