MOOD SWINGS vs HOT TAKE: Your Mate's Ex + more is a proper buzzer of a night hitting YES Basement on Friday 28 August 2026, kicking off at 19:00. You're getting live music with some brilliant local talent going head-to-head, and at just £5.50 it's a steal for a night out in the city centre. This is exactly the kind of grassroots gig Manchester does best – intimate, energetic, and packed with emerging acts that actually deserve your attention.
YES Basement is one of Manchester's best-kept secrets for live music, tucked away in the heart of the city centre with that proper underground vibe that makes gigs feel special. The venue's known for championing independent artists and hosting nights that actually matter to the local music scene, so you know you're in good hands. The intimate setting means you'll be right there with the bands, no massive sound systems drowning out the raw talent.
Head down early to grab a decent spot and soak in the atmosphere – it fills up quick on nights like this. The 18+ age restriction keeps things focused on a proper adult crowd, so expect genuine music lovers rather than messy randos. It's just a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly if you're coming from outside the city, and there's plenty of bars nearby if you fancy a pre-gig pint to get in the mood.Browse more Music events in Manchester or explore city-centre.
