About Altrincham Market House

Altrincham Market House is a restored Victorian market hall that became one of the more discussed food destinations in Greater Manchester after it reopened in 2014. It was part of a broader regeneration of Altrincham town centre that turned what had been a struggling high street into a genuine destination. The hall hosts independent food and drink traders – rotating over the years but consistently strong – operating in a shared space with communal seating under the original roof structure. The format is now common in cities across the country; Altrincham was one of the places that made it work early.

The weekend market in the attached outdoor area brings in produce traders, street food vendors and specialist sellers. It is genuinely busy on Saturday mornings, particularly for the produce stalls. Getting there from Manchester city centre takes around twenty minutes on the Metrolink, and Altrincham itself has enough going on in the surrounding streets to make a half-day of it if you want to. Parking is available nearby for those coming by car from South Manchester or Cheshire. One of the better food markets in the region.
