The Beeswing is a natural wine bar on Ford Street in the Northern Quarter, tucked slightly off the main drag. The wine list is serious – mostly low-intervention bottles from small producers across Europe, with a few from further afield – but the atmosphere is relaxed enough that you don’t need to know much to enjoy yourself. The staff are happy to point you toward something based on what you fancy rather than launching into a lecture about biodynamic viticulture. It’s that kind of place.

The food is simple and changes with availability – boards, small plates, things that go with wine rather than trying to compete with it. The room is not large, which gives it a proper neighbourhood bar feel even though it draws people from across the city. Worth going on a quieter weeknight if you want to actually talk to whoever you’re with. Gets fuller and louder at weekends, which is also fine.
