Deansgate is the longest shopping street in Manchester city centre and the traditional retail spine. The fashion concentration is at the north end around House of Fraser and the Cathedral Approach cluster. South of St Mary’s Gate the street becomes more office and restaurant. The fashion offer is mainstream-to-premium, traditional rather than fashion-forward, strong on menswear casuals and tailoring.

The traditional Manchester department store. Five floors, full ranges, strong menswear floor. Stone Island, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Loake, Crockett and Jones brogues, Polo Ralph Lauren. The casuals selection is one of the better department store options in the north. Womenswear less exciting but solid for occasion wear, knitwear, accessories. Beauty hall on the ground floor.

The larger of the two Manchester Massimo Dutti stores. Strong on knitwear, tailored separates, contemporary professional wear.

Slightly smaller than the King Street branch but useful if you’re already on Deansgate.
