Schofield’s Bar opened in 2021 and within a year was appearing on World’s 50 Best Bars lists. Joe and Daniel Schofield came up through some of the best cocktail bars in London before coming home to Manchester to open their own place on Jacksons Row. The bar is small, the service is attentive without being suffocating, and the cocktails are exceptional – both the classics and the house originals. The list changes regularly and there’s always something worth asking about that isn’t on the menu.

The room has a quiet confidence to it – dark wood, good lighting, no gimmicks. It doesn’t try to be a scene. The focus is entirely on what’s in the glass. Walk-ins are possible early in the week but you’ll want a booking on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. It’s on the quieter end of Deansgate, away from the Locks area, which gives it a more composed atmosphere than the bars a few streets over. One of the best things to happen to Manchester’s bar scene in years.
