The operation is straightforward. Volunteers prepare food, load up, and head to a regular spot in the city centre where people know to find them. They serve hot meals, hand out warm clothing and sleeping bags when available, and – importantly – talk to people. The human contact matters as much as the food. Outreach like this reaches people who aren’t accessing hostels or formal services, for whatever reason.
