Know better than this page?

Tell us a venue's real late-night band and we will review it. Nothing changes live until an admin checks your answer.

The filters above show real venues with a verified status where we have one. The guide below is how each area actually built its late-night reputation, useful for picking where to head even on a night the directory above is still thin.

Rusholme and the Curry Mile

Wilmslow Road through Rusholme, known citywide as the Curry Mile, is the closest thing Manchester has to a guaranteed late-night strip. It's been the destination for post-night-out food for decades, a run of curry houses, grill restaurants and sweet shops that has always leaned later than the rest of the city. Kebabish is one of the better-known names along here for grills and kebabs. Mughli, a bit further down the strip, has built its name on Curry Mile dining more broadly. Expect a mix of counter-service grill spots and sit-down curry houses, most of them used to a late crowd, particularly on weekends.

Chinatown

Manchester's Chinatown, around Faulkner Street and George Street, has historically run later than the city centre around it, driven partly by trade from nearby nightlife. Yang Sing has been a fixture here for decades and is well known for handling big groups as well as late diners. Happy Seasons is another long-standing Chinatown name locals point to for a late feed after a night out. As with Rusholme, the kitchens here have traditionally leaned toward later service than most of the city centre, but exact closing times shift, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning to arrive close to midnight.

Northern Quarter

The Northern Quarter's food scene skews toward daytime and early evening, cafes, bakeries and independent kitchens rather than a late-night strip. That said, This & That on Soap Street has long been a go-to for a cheap, filling curry cafe plate, and its cash-friendly, walk-in setup makes it a reliable option if you catch it before it closes for the night. Bundobust, with its street food and craft beer list, is another Northern Quarter name worth knowing, particularly earlier in the evening. Neither runs anywhere near as late as the Curry Mile or Chinatown, so treat the NQ as an early-to-mid-evening option rather than a 2am one.

City centre, near the venues

Around the main nightlife strips (Deansgate, the Gay Village, Northern Quarter's bar cluster) you'll find the usual mix of pizza slices, chicken shops and kebab counters that cities like Manchester rely on for the walk home. These come and go more than the established names above, so this page won't name specific late-night counters here. Your best bet on any given night is simply to see what's still lit up and busy as you're leaving a venue, or ask a local. If you know a kitchen that reliably runs late, use the form above to tell us and it will go into the directory once checked.

Before you go: the areas above are a reputation guide, not a live feed. The verified badges in the tool above are the closest thing to a real-time answer we have, and everything else is honestly marked Unknown rather than guessed. Check the venue's socials or call ahead for tonight's actual hours regardless.

What this page actually does

This page is now two things in one: a live, filterable directory of real venues with honest verified/unknown status, and an editorial guide to the city's known late-night pockets. Use the filters to see what's confirmed, use the guide to work out which area to head to when nothing nearby is confirmed yet, then check the specific venue is open before you commit to the walk. If you run a kitchen that regularly serves late, use the "Correct our info" form above.

Where is the most reliable place for late food in Manchester?
Rusholme's Curry Mile has the longest-standing reputation for late service in the city, followed by Chinatown. Both have multiple kitchens, so if one has closed for the night there's usually another option nearby. Check the tool above for any that have been verified.
Is the Northern Quarter good for late-night food?
It's better for earlier evening. A few names like This & That serve a strong casual plate, but the area isn't built around late-night kitchens the way Rusholme or Chinatown are.
How late do Curry Mile restaurants actually stay open?
It varies by venue, night of the week and season. The Curry Mile has a long-standing reputation for late service, but exact hours are set by each restaurant individually, so check with the venue directly for tonight, or look for a verified badge above.
Does this page show real-time opening hours?
Only where a venue shows a verified badge with a date. Every other listing is honestly marked Unknown rather than guessed. For tonight's actual hours, check the venue's own listing or socials.
