The Britons Protection has stood on the corner of Great Bridgewater Street and Lower Mosley Street since 1806. Two rooms, a serious whisky list, no music, no TV – a deliberate choice that's kept it one of the best pubs in the city.

It's a Grade II listed building and one of Manchester's genuinely old pubs, a short walk from Bridgewater Hall and the Great Northern.

The layout is split into two distinct rooms. There's no jukebox and no screens – conversation is the point.
