Story

Mackie Mayor's market hall second life

A Grade II listed Victorian market became one of the Northern Quarter's easiest group dining answers.

Mackie Mayor food hall

Mackie Mayor works because the building still feels like a market. High ceilings, shared tables, and multiple counters keep the room loose.

Independent vendors make it useful for mixed groups. One person can order pizza, another can go for fish, coffee, wine, or dessert, and nobody has to negotiate a single menu.

The restored Northern Quarter site also gives Manchester a food hall with history in the walls rather than a copied shopping centre format.
