Everything happening in Manchester,
in one place.
Independent. Editorial. Not algorithm-driven.
- We pay for what we review.
No freebies, no press dinners, no comped tickets. If we review it, we bought it ourselves - so the opinion is ours, not the venue's.
- We do not publish PR fluff.
Press releases get recycled. We write from experience, not from copy-and-paste press packs. If it's not worth saying properly, we don't say it.
- If we don't like it, we say so.
Honest reviews only. A four out of ten is as useful as a nine. The people reading this live here - they deserve straight talk.
- Every imported event is human-checked.
We pull from Skiddle, Ticketmaster and Eventbrite every night. Every single listing is reviewed before going live. Duplicates, miscategorisations and dead events get pulled.
Overnight feeds from Skiddle, Ticketmaster, Eventbrite and direct venue submissions are pulled into a moderation queue.
Humans check for duplicates, wrong dates, bad venue tags and missing images. Nothing broken gets through.
Events are tagged by category and neighbourhood - Ancoats, Northern Quarter, Didsbury, City Centre and beyond.
Live by 7am every morning. Readers wake up to a fully updated calendar for the day, the week, and the month ahead.

Press enquiries and interview requests:
hello@mcr.cityManchester's independent city guide goes live with a daily events calendar, venue directory and editorial stories. First home: a studio above a pub in the Northern Quarter.
The listings calendar crosses 1,000 live events. Neighbourhood guides launch for Ancoats, Didsbury, Chorlton and the Northern Quarter. The MCR TV video channel launches.
The dotcity network expands beyond Manchester. Liverpool, Sheffield and Newcastle are in build. The same editorial standards, applied to every city in the UK.
