Altrincham is a town southwest of Manchester. It’s connected by tram. The main draw is Altrincham Market House which is an excellent food venue. Beyond that it’s a residential town with market appeal.
Altrincham Market House
Altrincham Market House is the reason to go. It’s a collection of independent food vendors: fish and chips, kebabs, Thai, Italian, cocktails. Quality is high across vendors. It’s busy, good atmosphere, loads of choice. No bookings needed, order at stalls.
Town Centre Shops
Altrincham town centre has independent shops: vintage, antiques, bookshops. It’s quieter than Manchester city centre but has character. Good for browsing without crowds.
Getting There
Altrincham Metrolink is the connection. Direct line from city centre, about 25 minutes. Parking is available if driving.
When to Visit
Go for Market House lunch. Browse shops after. It’s good for a market town experience without being a tourist destination. Quiet weekdays, busier weekends.
